Our unwavering commitment to birds

At Bardsea Bird Sanctuary, our mission is clear: to protect and nurture the local bird population. Discover why our work is vital, how we achieve it, and the significant impact we make every day.

Why we exist: A sanctuary for local birds

Bardsea Bird Sanctuary was founded with a singular purpose: to help injured birds in the local area. Our primary goal is to rehabilitate these birds and release them back into their natural habitats. For those who cannot make a full recovery, we ensure they receive the highest quality of life within our aviaries, surrounded by company and care. Every bird deserves a second chance, and we are dedicated to providing just that.

The vital importance of our work

Our work is incredibly important for the survival of countless birds and for the well-being of our community. Without our intervention, hundreds of birds would sadly perish each year. During the spring months, it is not uncommon for our team to assist over a dozen birds every single day. We provide critical care that prevents suffering and helps maintain the natural balance of our local ecosystem.

How we achieve our mission every day

Achieving our mission is a dedicated, daily effort. Our incredible volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, taking in and carefully capturing birds to transport them to veterinarians for urgent care. Once with us, we diligently rehabilitate birds by providing nutritious food, administering necessary antibiotics, offering essential nutrients, and creating a safe, nurturing environment for them to heal. This continuous cycle of rescue, care, and release defines our commitment.

"The dedication of Bardsea Bird Sanctuary volunteers is truly inspiring. They are heroes for our local wildlife."
